ELEVATING CHILDREN'S MINISTRIESBishop Shaun McKinley, International Director of Children's Ministries"We don't have any children." It's a comment I often heard while serving as a regional and state children's ministry leader visiting local congregations. Usually it was said to warn me that the congregants weren't interested in learning about the ministry I had come to represent, similar to the prompt dismissal of a door-to-door salesman or telemarketer. The response would often frustrate and saddened me, because I not only knew God's heart for kids. I also knew that a church without children is a dying church.I wholeheartedly believe children's ministry is one of the most vitally important ministries to the health, life, and future of any congregation. Furthermore, we've been given a mandate to go into ALL the world and preach the Gospel. There is not a qualifier to our mandate. In our efforts to fulfill this command, we can and must evangelize (Matt. 18:14), disciple (Eph. 2:10), and involve kids in ministry (Mark 10:45).Elevate is a new print and e-newsletter sharing the stories and testimonies of the ways International Children's Ministries is partnering with ministries and offices around the world to equip and train leaders to serve kids. As you read these short articles, I invite you to pray, celebrate, and partner with us in fulfilling our mission to develop leaders who impact kids!

Helping Hands for Kids:Shining God’s Love in the Czech Republic
Children’s Ministries is wrapping up our 2018 Helping Hands for Kids giving project, mobilizing kids to raise funds for ministry in the Czech Republic. The Church of God of Prophecy congregation in Frydek-Místek has begun a children’s outreach ministry that targets children living in a neighborhood where there is easy access to drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol. The neighborhood outreach shares the good news of salvation through special events and a children’s Bible club This is an ongoing discipleship program of the local church, involving parents in the outreach events so they too can hear the news of the Gospel and connect with the local church. Medical assistance to the families is also provided, as needed. To date, International Children’s Ministries has raised nearly $2,200.00 for this project. At the end of November, we received a donation of $400 from a local church in Puerto Rico. When asked, “How did the children in your congregation take part in this project?” children’s minister, Eliette Garcia wrote, “We started by teaching the children during our Sunday School and one prayer service about the SHINE project. They learned about our COGOP family in the Czech Republic and the church in Frydek-Místek. During the months of August thru mid-November, the kids had activities every Sunday selling juices, candies, and such. They were so into it they went to any member that hadn't been by the booth and asked what they would give. They also received a plastic bottle to fill with dimes. They really enjoy each HH4K project they do. We are happy to see how they have learned to give and be a part of a global family.”Donations are still arriving. If you would like to be a part of this special project, give or learn more at www.cogop.org/children/hh4k.
